The Foundation That Holds
Lamentations 1–2 · 1 Corinthians 3
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

TODAY’S DEVOTION
Corinthian believers were attaching themselves to personalities, but Paul refused to let any minister become the church’s foundation. Servants may plant and water; only God gives the increase. Every life and every ministry must rest upon Jesus Christ rather than charisma, preference, reputation, or human control.
A foundation is usually hidden, but every later strain reveals its strength. When disappointment, correction, or change shakes you, ask what your confidence has truly been resting upon. A Christ-founded life can honor leaders without idolizing them, use gifts without trusting them, and endure change without losing identity. Bring every decision back under the lordship of Jesus and build in a way that will survive His examination.

Themelios is the supporting foundation on which a structure depends. Paul permits no competing base for the church or believer: Jesus Christ alone.
Paul confronts factionalism and reminds the Corinthians that ministers are servants. God gives the increase, Christ is the foundation, and every builder is accountable for how he builds.
