When the Heart Rises Too High
Ezekiel 28–30
“Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:”

TODAY’S DEVOTION
The prince of Tyre mistook wisdom, wealth, and authority for godlike independence. Pride did not begin when he spoke the claim aloud; it began when his heart rose above its proper place. Every human gift becomes dangerous when it persuades us that we no longer need correction, dependence, or God.
Humility is not pretending you have no strengths. It is knowing where they came from and who remains Lord over them. The Holy Ghost can use gifted people powerfully, but He leads yielded people. Stay teachable. Welcome biblical correction. Pray before deciding. Give credit freely. The safest place for a growing life is low before Jesus, because grace continues to flow where pride no longer needs to be defended.

גָּבַהּ · gāḇah · H1361
Gāḇah means to be high, exalted, or lifted up. Applied to the heart, it describes inward self-exaltation before it becomes visible in words and conduct.
Ezekiel addresses the historical ruler of Tyre within oracles against proud nations. The language grows poetic and elevated, but its immediate warning concerns a human ruler corrupted by beauty, wisdom, trade, and self-exaltation.
