Set Your Heart to See
Ezekiel 40–42
“And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.”
Ezekiel 40:4 KJV
TODAY’S DEVOTION
The detailed measurements of Ezekiel’s vision can feel slow to modern readers, but the command is intensely active: look, hear, set your heart, and declare. God was teaching the prophet to give sustained attention to a holy pattern. Restoration would not be built from hurried impressions. Ezekiel had to notice what God considered worthy of measurement.
Daily devotion trains this kind of attention. We do not rush through Scripture merely to finish a task; we bring eyes, ears, and heart before God. Details that first seem difficult may reveal His order, holiness, and faithfulness when we remain present. Slow down today. Ask what the passage emphasizes, what it corrects, and what it reveals about God. Then carry what you have seen into obedient witness.

To “set the heart” is to direct the inner person—attention, understanding, desire, and resolve—toward what God is revealing. Biblical listening involves more than sound reaching the ears.
Ezekiel 40 begins the final temple vision fourteen years after Jerusalem’s fall. The careful measurements communicate ordered holiness and renewed access to God’s presence within a restoration vision.
