DAY 6 OF 14 · Faith and perseverance
Faith After Disappointment
Faith can grieve honestly and still confess who Jesus is.
PRIMARY PASSAGE
John 11:17–27, 38–44
Read this passage slowly in your Bible before continuing. My Daily Altar uses the King James Version for its English Scripture experience.
BIBLICAL CONTEXT
Listen to the passage on its own terms.
Martha told Jesus what hurt: if He had been there, Lazarus would not have died. Yet disappointment did not silence her confession that He was the Christ. Jesus met both her grief and her faith.
Reflect
Can I tell Jesus what disappointed me without withdrawing my trust from Him?
Respond
Pray the honest sentence you have avoided, then confess one thing you still know about Jesus.
Pray
Lord, meet me in disappointment. Hold my grief and deepen my knowledge of who You are.
