DAY 1 OF 14 · Prayer and communion
Come to the Father
Prayer begins with relationship: Jesus teaches us to approach the holy God as our Father.
PRIMARY PASSAGE
Matthew 6:5–9
Read this passage slowly in your Bible before continuing. My Daily Altar uses the King James Version for its English Scripture experience.
BIBLICAL CONTEXT
Listen to the passage on its own terms.
Jesus corrects prayer performed for an audience and prayer multiplied as though many words could earn attention. The Father already knows, yet He welcomes His children to come.
Reflect
When I pray, am I trying to perform, persuade, or be present with God?
Respond
Find a quiet place and begin simply: “Our Father…”
Pray
Father, draw me away from performance and teach me to know Your nearness in prayer.
