Christ loved us in our weakness and sin, before we could offer Him anything.

The cross destroys both pride and despair. We cannot boast that we deserved rescue, and we need not conclude that our weakness places us beyond mercy. God moved toward enemies and made reconciliation possible through Jesus Christ.
